He was not in the 1861 Census for Brighton Village and Ann would be married again in a few years. This feels like a death, maybe while sailing on the lake, which was his trade and the business he married into. Also, the fact that the children stayed with Ann and her family suggest that James was out of the picture totally and permanently. Note: Here is a perfect example of how surname spelking was so inconsistent. The spelling here is Magraw, different again from the common forms of McGrath and McGraw. It is apparent that these forms were interchanged and intermingle by the people themselves, by agents and census takers, and by the general public. As a very scheptical researcher, this is the record that allows me to follow this theory in building the trees. They are the same people, just recorded as McGraw one day and McGrath the next. YUK!!!
